Charging

Let’s say you only live in your RV for six months at a time and leave it parked for the other six months. When not in use, lead-acid batteries can lose 33% of their charge a month and can’t be depleted lower than 50% without risking damage, which means you’d have to charge them at least once a month during your off-season.

Temperature

Colorado can get pretty hot in the summer and experiences freezing winters. Patriot Power Source’s lithium batteries are built to handle temperature extremes better than any other option available. They can power your electronics and appliances in temperatures as low as -4 degrees and as high as 140 degrees.

Many other batteries lose some of their usable capacity in colder temperatures. Our batteries experience very little loss of capacity. They still offer 95-98% of their capacity at temperatures below freezing or 32 degrees. As temperatures get down to 14 degrees, our batteries still provide 80% of the rated capacity. Plus, they warm up as they’re used, which helps to lower the resistance and increase the voltage.

Keep in mind that these extreme temperatures do affect the charging process. Our lithium batteries need to be charged in temperatures between 32 and 113 degrees.

Battery Capacity and Lifespan

All of Patriot Power Source’s lithium batteries have 100Ah, which is fully usable. If you get 100Ah lead-acid batteries, only half that is actually usable due to the fact that they can’t be depleted past 50%. Our batteries effectively double your usable power.

Not to mention that the lithium batteries we offer have one of the longest lifespans of any other battery available. They can get between 7,000 to 7,500 charge/discharge cycles. Most lead-acids only get up to 1,000 charge cycles, and even other lithium batteries top out around 5,000 cycles. Whereas other batteries may last you five to ten years, our lithium batteries can last up to twenty years, depending on your rig setup and usage.

Safety

The LiFePO4 technology used in Patriot Power Source’s lithium batteries is inherently safe. Plus, they have a built-in Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS continually monitors the battery to make sure that it’s performing optimally.

It also has safety circuits in place that prevent the battery from overheating, overcharging, or over-discharging. With the BMS protecting your batteries, you won’t have to worry about anything going wrong.

Maintenance
