Testimonial from The Unrouted
Guest piece from The Unrouted on why they love their Patriot Power Source batteries.
My wife and I are full-time RVers, and we finally decided it was time to switch to lithium batteries. We’re so glad we did because our life has been completely transformed. We bought our batteries from Patriot Power Source and, let me just say, this company is incredible.
Now, let me tell you our story and why you should consider using Patriot Power Source to make the switch to lithium batteries.
Our Experience with Lead-Acid Batteries
As I said, my wife and I have been living full-time in our RV for a little under a year now. As with most RV’s, ours was initially equipped with four giant lead-acid 12V batteries. These batteries are terrible for this lifestyle, and I’ll tell you why.
When living full time out on the road, the most important item to have available to you is power, and our rig uses plenty of it.
When we were using our lead-acid batteries, we couldn’t travel more than six or seven hours, or we would arrive at our destination with our batteries depleted below 50%. Oftentimes we would not have enough juice left to open our slides or put our jacks down.
Our four 100Ah lead-acid batteries should have been providing 400Ah total, but only 200Ah was actually usable due to the fact that you can’t deplete lead-acids under 50%. Total usage would last us about eight to twelve hours of battery time, if we were lucky.
We never understood how so many people could boondock or live off the grid when we were using our lead-acid batteries. We were running the generator six to eight hours a day just to keep them above 50%, which was miserable.
Not only that, but our travel days always revolved around checking the batteries’ levels and seeing how much farther we could go before they died. There were many times we thought about just pulling into an RV park for the night and paying $60 for a spot, just to charge back up again, instead of making it to our destination.
After about six months, we were beyond frustrated and decided to see if lithium batteries would make a difference.
Our New Setup with Lithium Batteries
We purchased three 100 Ah 12V lithium batteries from Patriot Power Source, and we love them.
We now have 300 Ah of usable power, which gives us, on average, around 50 hours of battery life, with an average of 6 Ah of draw. Since we’ve made the switch, our lives have been transformed, and we finally understand how people can boondock.
We almost never think about the batteries anymore, and they last multiple days without a charge. We shed a ton of weight, and lithium batteries can be depleted all the way down to 0%, which, believe it or not, is a huge stress relief.
If they die while we are away, they die, no harm, no foul. We just charge them right back up. They easily handle our rig and our needs. We did not get that same feeling when we were using lead-acid batteries.
In fact, in February of next year, we are going to do a full solar conversion with 1160W of solar and a new 3000W inverter. With the help of solar, we plan on never needing to use our generator again. This wouldn’t be possible without our Patriot Power Source lithium batteries.
Our Experience with Patriot Power Source
We love Patriot Power Source, the staff, and the product. We cannot say enough nice things about this company and its commitment to helping and providing the best service possible.
Working with this company has been a testament to customer service and professionalism. Not only were they friendly and helpful, but they were also able to ship these batteries to a campground in less than five days during a time when most of their competitors’ batteries were backlogged and out of stock.
We are so glad we went with Patriot Power Source and their lithium batteries. We will never go with anyone else when choosing batteries in the future. Shout out to Trey for all his hard work in getting things set up for our trailer.
